Re: Engine management light & DPF light flashing « Reply #24 on: June 08, 2012, 11:45:28 am » If you plan to get the car the £450 to have the DPF removed will outweigh the fuel saving cost (with better mpg due to no DPF) and also any costs to reset lights/replace/regen DPF's. If the code P1336 is set and the DPF light is flashing while the engine is running, you should check timing chain as described below. Next, remove the valve cover. Once this has been removed, the timing chain, camshaft gears and valve train will be exposed. Now, check the tension on the timing chain. Step on the gas pedal all the way to the floor and hold it there for 30 seconds. Release the gas pedal. Turn off the ignition, then turn it back on again all the way to turn on the engine. The AT light should now go away. Notice the light under the DPF light looks like a squiggly ‘W’. Wait for all the lights to go off as normal then you are left with the regular lights and a flashing DPF light. Wait about 5 seconds and then pump the accelerator 10 times. Now that squiggly ‘W’ comes on then goes off. Turn the ignition to off and back on and bada bing bada Indeed knowing this I drove for 100,00km with a flashing DPF light with ZERO ill effects untill I finally found the way to clear it. ONLY if the DPF light comes on and is SOLID does it mean that there is a problem. I can confirm that this issue exists on both Mazda 3 & 6 diesel’s. After half-minute of driving at highway speed, the check engine light that is always on starts flashing. Codes are P0301 & P0302, but plugs 1 & 2 look good and plug 3 is carbon-fouled. Upon advice from this forum, I've added a gallon of acetone to a half-tank of gas to clean the injectors, which I haven't checked. regeneration may be needed.
